No minefield there that I am aware of =).

I don't recall any specific discussions about the RTC, but I think we wanted it 
battery powered (naturally, sort of). I have the feeling that might be possible with 
the RTC in the STM32 too, in which case I believe there are no real reason to have 
a separate one.

Maybe we put the RTC in the block diagram before we knew what MCU we would 
use... maybe somone had a conscious idea to have a separate chip, but in that 
case I don't remember the arguments.
