the linux install uses the term "edition"

can i install as user or should i be root?  neither you nor they say.
as it used words such as 'driver' i installed as root.

do i want to check the "install cable drivers" box?  i did so, but got a
pop-up during the install

and there was no
  /.xinstall/install.log
  ~/.xinstall/install.log
  /root/.xinstall/install.log

find finally got me to /opt/Xilinx/14.7/ISE_DS/.xinstall/install.log
i append it gzipped

and redhat or suse.  though leif is testing if it can be alienated to
debian/ubuntu.  and i suspect that you need a desktop, not server,
linux, as the install is x-based.  and i would not recommend less than
32G of disk.

i need instructions on how to get this directory system into my build
system
