 This has mutated, either into Fredrik's !PySerial-based scripts or Paul's
 EKermit-based code.

 At the moment we seem to be going with Fredrik's, which feels a bit more
 fragile but is probably more portable (!PySerial knows how to handle high
 speed UARTs on more platforms than C-Kermit does -- I haven't checked
 EKermit but unlikely to be better than C-Kermit in this regard).
