 A few details I forgot:

 Git doc on "smart HTTP": http://git-scm.com/book/en/v2/Git-on-the-Server-
 Smart-HTTP

 Access to the old (pre-repository-reorg) repositories is offline
 temporarily to avoid complicating the configuration.  In theory,
 reenabling should be straightforward, just a matter of using Apache
 <Location> or some such to select the repository tree based on the path
 portion of the URL.
