If config can be pushed from USB to EEPROM - no.
AFAIK Pavel highlighted this problem when we discussed possible
interface chips and we really didn't want to have persistent state that
could be altered from the external interface.
If you think it will not add any time in schematics and layout, add the
footprint. But otherwise I suggest not doing this.
