Aloha

I have written a survey about different on-chip interconnect standards.
The purpose of the survey is to describe the big standards in terms of
technical aspects as well as licensing and adoption/usage. Hopefully
this can be used to properly decide on what to use in Cryptech.

I've added the survey as a page on the Wiki:
https://cryptech.is/wiki/InterconnectStandards

The page has not been proof read, spell checked etc. Any suggestions,
comments are highly welcome.

My personal take is that if we want to be open, have no licensing
issues, be compatible with open cores and stay away from proprietary
stuff Wishbone is the standard to use.

If we want to be more in line with commerial systems and follow
mainstream AMBA is the right choice.

Technically Wishbone should provide what Cryptech systems might require,
but may take more work to integrate, adopt and thereby hinder adoption
of Cryptech.

To me, it is not clear cut what to choose. But we do need to choose.
Though for most of the cores in practical terms what it comes down to is
writing the correct interface wrapper (if it doesn't exists).
