Yes, Wishbone is the suggested bus. Do you have any other suggestion I
would greatly appreciate it.

There are technical merits to use one or more of the AMBA buses and
there are open cores that do use them. But the clear open licensing for
Wishbone and the prevalence of open cores with Wishbone is for me good
enough reasons to choose WB even though I think it is somewhat ugly.

Performance wise, WB should suffice.
